Meet Stan Ward

The Fighter

Coach Stan Ward - The Fighter

Stan Ward, known to everyone as “Coach,” is an American heavyweight boxer from the last great generation of heavyweights. Active as a professional from 1974-1989, Coach boxed against a Who’s Who of great boxers. He fought a trilogy with Mike Weaver, and shared the ring with Greg Page, Ron Lyle, and many others.

In 1974, Coach served as a sparring partner for George Forman in Zaire, as he prepared for the “Rumble in the Jungle,” against Muhammad Ali.

In 1975, Coach was in camp to spar with Joe Frazier as he was preparing for his fight against Ali, in what many people call the greatest heavyweight fight ever, the “Thrilla in Manila.”

The Teacher

As a fighter, Coach came up in a time where boxing gyms, and knowledgable boxing trainers, were more common. He took every opportunity to learn from the experienced trainers around him, asking questions of anyone who would speak to him to the point of pestering them. Throughout his whole career, Coach has been a life-long student of boxing. Now, he generously shares his boxing knowledge with his students.

Whether you are training with Coach to compete, or are learning boxing for fun and fitness, you get Coach’s full attention and experience.
